Summervale 2012: Celebrating the Taste of Our Place

This summer, the Intervale Center hosted Summervale, a nine-week summer event series celebrating local food, farmers, and community each Thursday evening. Along with 8 local food vendors, 18 local bands, and food-themed kids activities, we were delighted to host a weekly tasting series curated and staffed by Slow Food Vermont.

Aiming to introduce festival-goers to heirloom and unusual varieties of produce, rare meats, artisan cheeses or bean-to-bar chocolate, the tastings were a huge hit. Summervale attracted a crowd of over 750 people on most nights, and many attendees made a beeline for the offerings at Slow Food Vermont’s signature red tent.

Slow Food Vermont’s Summervale tasting tent was also chosen for the national debut of Lake Champlain Chocolates’ new bean-to-bar chocolate line, Blue Bandana Chocolate Maker!
